Story Title: We Need Him

Ch3: Jake

Jake

Taking a drag on his cigarette, Jake took a moment to run his gaze up and down the British man standing in front of him. His stomach swooped, not from anxiety as it did often. This felt more like that instant lust reaction that happened when you met someone new that turned your crank just so. Jake didn’t get that reaction often with men, his tastes ran more specific for his own gender than they did for women. Brett was more than attractive, model hot with his stubble, trim figure, and dimples that showed when he smiled.

But that wasn’t what caused the tightness in Jake’s pants or the butterflies in his stomach. It was…something Jake couldn’t even describe about the man or about himself. The way Jake wanted to turn his gaze downward or let the man take his fill of Jamie without protest. The way his voice glided down Jake’s spine with a tingle.

“So, friends since middle school? I can’t say I even keep in touch with anyone from high school let alone farther back.” Brett spoke, leaning his elbow back on the railing behind him.

“We just clicked like brothers and never lost connection. We work at the same law firm now.” Jake replied, trying to keep the nerves out of his tone. He had hoped the cigarette would calm his anxiety, but he’d been on shaky ground all day and this man in front of him sent him even further off course. “You’ve kept in touch with Sam since college though? That’s almost a decade.” He took a final drag on his cigarette, putting it out in the ashtray on the table to the side.

“Only Sam, though.” Brett shrugged, his gaze intent on Jake as he spoke. “Guess there’s just something about the guy that latches on.”

Jake chuckled softly. “He does have that kind of personality.” He really wished he had grabbed a beer before following Sam outside to meet his college friend. He didn’t think Jamie would bring him one, not after his stupid behavior earlier that day. Not having anything else to do with his hands, Jake stuck them in his slacks, fidgeting with his keys in one pocket and his wallet in the other.

“Even with the distance, we managed to keep in touch with texts and even got together a few times when Sam visited his family in London. Do you practice the same kind of law as Sam?”

“Oh no, I’m not cut out for the courtroom.” Jake said disparagingly, making a face at the very idea. “I handle business contracts for multi-million dollar companies.”
“Wow, that sounds like a lot of pressure.” Brett furrowed his brow, head tilting slightly, gaze never faltering as he studied Jake. Jake felt his face warming at the heavy gaze of attention, nerves swirling in his gut.

“A bit.” Jake shrugged.

“I’m sure it’s good to have someone like Jamie to come home to. Unless I read that wrong?”

“Oh no that’s…yeah.” Jake ducked his head for a moment before turning back to Brett. “We’ve been together for a while. She’s very supportive of my career.” Jake managed, knowing Brett’s inquiry had more to due with his relationship status. While Jake and Jamie were firmly in an exclusive long term relationship, things were rocky and not easy to talk about.

“That’s…a good trait in a partner.” Brett’s darted his gaze around Jake’s face, looking for something that Jake didn’t know how to give him. Brett cleared his throat, standing from his relaxed stance and despite being a few inches shorter than Jake, seemed to loom over him. “What is-”

His question cut off by a yell, “Jake! New game is starting, get your ass in here and take these asshole’s money for me!” His friend, Mike, gestured hurriedly in Jake’s direction.

“Be right there!” Jake shouted back before turning his gaze to Brett again, “Sorry, poker time.” He explained. “Want to play?”

“I’m fairly shit at gambling so no thanks.” Brett smiled at him, and there was that damn dimple again. “Have fun. It was nice to meet you.”

“Yeah…you too.” Jake turned and walked away before he could make a fool of himself, ask for the guys number or something. He stopped at the table with drinks and grabbed himself a few beers, passing Jamie and Angie huddled together with a few other girlfriends, before making his way to the dining room table set up for a poker game.

“Ready to hand over your well earned money, assholes?” Jake joked, taking his seat at the table as the group groaned. Nerves melted away as he got comfortable in his element, his mind turning to the game instead of Brett, or work, or Jamie. Sat around the table were his usual group of five poker friends and a few others joining in from the party. He didn’t win every game, every poker night, but more often than not, he walked away with a fat wallet while his friends cursed his name.

“Piss break.” Jake announced several winning games later. “You guys go ahead and play without me, I need a smoke and some food, too.” He stood, pocketing the cash he’d won already and finishing off his 4th beer of the night. His friends eagerly waved him away, glad to have a chance to earn some money back from each other with him gone.

Jake’s gaze moved over the living room, spotting Jamie on the couch with Angie before noticing Brett engaged in a conversation with Boring Steve from work. How that guy even ended up with an invite to Sam’s birthday party was anyone’s guess. He just always seemed to show up at events without anyone informing him of it. He wasn’t a bad guy just…boring. Jake briefly thought about rescuing Brett but he really did need that piss, smoke, and food to soak up all the drinks he had so he didn’t do something stupid. Like save the hot British guy from Boring Steve.

Running his hand through his blonde hair, Jake counted his breaths as he made his way down the empty hallway to the bathroom. He had been lucky to win that last game, dimples and rough stubble taking over his thoughts the more he drank.

“Jake wait up,” Jamie’s voice was loud in the quiet of the hallway, the music from the party muffled by the walls. Jake jumped, startled and turned to face her.

“Jeez, Jay, don’t sneak up on me like that.” His heart-rate ratcheted up, the anxiety in his gut swirling tighter for a moment as he waited for her to catch up to him at the end of the hallway.

“Can we talk?”

“I’m trying to go to the bathroom. And we’re at party, is now really the time?” Jake sighed heavily, watching her gaze turn disappointed yet again. He couldn’t seem to stop fucking things up with her lately. Always too in his head, or too unsure of how to bridge the gap that spanned between them.

“It’s kind of important. I’ll wait.” She leaned against the wall across from the bathroom. Jake took in the tense way she held her shoulders and the slight down turning of her lips.

“Fine.” He muttered, turning away to the bathroom and shutting the door behind himself. He took care of business, washed his hands, and splashed cold water on his face, trying to sober up, cool down, and calm the fuck down. Jake felt the trembling of his hands as he dried off, refusing to look at himself in the mirror, knowing he wouldn’t like what he saw in return.

He tried so hard every day to keep his rolling emotions from showing on his face, the mask he kept in place so permanent, he knew the mirror would reflect the coldness in his eyes, the unapproachable set of his lips, the tightness of his jaw. And he couldn’t handle seeing that, not now.

“Jake?” Jamie’s voice came tentatively through the door and Jake jolted, realizing he’d just been standing there holding the hand towel for several minutes, lost in his head again. He exited the bathroom, spotting Helen, a receptionist at work, waiting next to Jamie for the bathroom. He nodded and smiled politely at her before Jamie grabbed his hand and tugged him further down the hall.

“Where are we going?” He asked. He still really wanted that cigarette.

“To talk in private.” She said over her shoulder. In moments, she shut and locked the guest bedroom door behind them.

“What’s going on?” Jake perched on the end of the guest bed, watching as Jamie started pacing in front of him. Back and forth across the room as she gathered her thoughts. He didn’t speak again, knowing she had to get her thoughts in line before talking. Instead, he took the time to look her over, his mind flashing back to earlier that night when he had gotten home to pick her up for the party.

Jamie had been dressed up, her hair and make up done to perfection. Jake could tell at a glance that the dress she wore was new and that she felt slightly insecure in it. And like the asshole he was, he briefly said she looked great and then hurried her out the door.

Great didn’t really cut it though. The black lace dress clung to her curves with perfection, made just for her. In truth, Jake had wanted to rip it off of her when he first saw it. Or better yet, hike it up around her hips with her legs wrapped around his own as he fucked into her. But he didn’t deserve that from her with everything going on with them. So he deflected and became an asshole instead.

“I know things between us have been…rocky, off…lately-” Jamie finally started talking, continuing in her pacing.

“Are we really talking about this right now, Jamie?” Jake crossed his arms over his chest, feeling nauseous at the prospect. Now was not the fucking time to get into anything involved with their “rocky” relationship as she put it.

“No, it’s…kind of about that.” Jamie sighed heavily, finally pausing in her pacing to plop down next to Jake. “Remember how we used to talk about having a threesome?” They had talked about having a threesome before. Mostly during late nights and drunk cuddles but that didn’t mean they both weren’t on board with the idea.

“Yeah…what does that have to do with anything right now?” Jake relaxed his arms, allowing his hand to brush over hers on the bed. He really just wanted to pull Jamie into his arms, hold her, and let the rest of the world disappear. But he couldn’t do that.

“I saw the way you were looking at Brett.” Jamie squirmed in place, “I was looking, too.”

“Jamie…” Jake sighed, wrapping an arm around her waist and tugging her closer, her head automatically leaning against his shoulder. “I don’t want you to think you have to do this to keep me, baby. That’s not why we should have a threesome or how we can fix…us.”

“That’s not what this is about. Not entirely.” She sat up, pulling from his embrace only to straddle him a second later. Jake reacted on instinct, his hands coming up to hold her waist, spreading his legs slightly to give her a more comfortable seat. Jamie’s skirt bunched up, her thick thighs on display in the dark. “I can’t stop picturing him between us. I’m so wet, it hurts.” She whispered in the space between them, her voice tentative and soft.

“Fuck.” Jake grunted, his hips thrusting up against her warm heat, his dick hardening at the visual she painted for him. In his mind he could picture her, naked and blushed red from arousal, her wet lower lips on display. It differed from his normal fantasies then, a man with brown hair, stubble and an adorable dimple stood behind her. The man wrapped an arm around her waist, palming her breast while the other delved down into her wet folds.

Jamie shuddered in Jake’s arms, bending to kiss at his neck, moving toward his ear. “I want to see your lips wrapped around his dick,” She panted into his ear, grinding down against his now fully hard length.

“Oh fuck, Jamie,” He groaned, wrapping one arm around her waist to haul her closer, the other moving to her thigh to grasp at her exposed skin. “If you’re sure, one hundred percent sure about this… But then we talk. For real. I can’t loose you.”

“Jake…” Jamie sighed heavily, halting the grinding motion of her hips before pulling back to gaze into his eyes. The street lights out the window illuminated her face just enough to see the wrinkle in her forehead and the concern in her eyes as she grasped his jaw in her soft hands. “This might not be the healthiest choice for our relationship right now. I’ll admit that. But no matter what happens, I’m not walking away from you. We’re going to fix this.” She spoke with determination, her lips against his own were sure and passionate.

Jake tightened his hands where they held her, pulling her body closer as he returned her kiss. Sinking into her, allowing the scent of her honey and vanilla body wash fill his lungs with familiarity and a sense of calm. Jamie licked against his lower lip and he granted her access immediately deepening the kiss. She tasted fruity and warm and Jake couldn’t get enough. Pushing her dress up around her hips, he grasped her ass with one hand, pressing her warm core against his lap.

Jamie whimpered into his mouth, thrusting her hips against him. “Make me come.” She begged against his lips and he was powerless to do anything but obey. Keeping one hand on her ass for support, his free hand dipped between her legs, finding her panties damp and warm nestled against her folds.

Pulling from her mouth only when he finally needed to breath, Jake trailed kisses down Jamie’s neck, nibbling and sucking as he went. He pulled her panties to the side and dipped a finger slowly into her depths. Jamie moaned, squirming in his lap.

“More, Jake. Come on.” She urged and Jake felt his dick pulse with her words, his desire for her all he could focus on. Giving her more, one finger and then another inside and his thumb softly against her clit, Jake kissed along her chest, dipping his tongue under the fabric of her dress against to tongue at her breast.

“Baby, this dress is fucking sinful do you know that?” He muttered against her skin, nipping and sucking to leave a small mark. Curling his fingers inside of her, he rubbed against her pulsing walls, expertly finding her swollen g-spot.

“Jake,” She panted, clutching tightly against his shoulders, her hips moving in small motions.

“When I first saw you in this, I wanted to push you against the wall, hike this skirt up and fuck you until you screamed for me.” Tilting his head up, Jake captured Jamie’s lips again, pressing harder against her clit as her movements increased to press the tips of his fingers into her g-spot.

“I’m so close.” Jamie panted, moaning as she kissed him back with desperation.

“You’re getting me all wet, Baby. Come on me and then you can go ask Brett if he’ll come home with us. I bet he’d look so good between your legs.” Jake pulled back slightly, keeping their lips close enough to breath the same air but he wanted to look in her eyes as she came for him.

“Yes. Oh fuck!” Jamie moaned, shaking in his arms, her walls pulsing around his fingers. Wetness seeped out of her, pooling on his palm and soaking into his pants. Good thing he wore dark slacks or the stain would be a big giveaway to their naughty activities. Jamie moaned and shuddered in his arms as he used his fingers to extend her orgasm as long as he could.

Eventually her hips stilled and he allowed his fingers to still with it. Jamie slumped against him, panting into his neck, her curly hair covering his face. Jake really wanted to use his soaking wet hand on his own dick and come all over Jamie’s face but if they were taking Brett home with them, he figured he should save it. He gently pulled his hand from Jamie’s, soothing her with soft words when she whimpered at him.

“Jay?” He said softly, placing a kiss on her neck and urging her face back up to face him. She sat up, her eyelids were half closed, a small smile on her face and contentment filled her entire being.

Beautiful. As the moment wound down, Jake’s dick softening now that it wasn’t getting any friction, thoughts once again swirled through his head. Why am I such an asshole all the time? Jamie deserves so much better. She deserves someone who isn’t a mess on the inside and is more attentive. Despite the negative voice in his head, Jake felt determined to do right by her. After a hook up with a sexy Brit…they’d talk, the two of them. Jake would make sure they fixed all of their problems.

Blog About Ch3: I'm on the struggle bus!

I wrote a post a few weeks ago about needing to change one of the main characters for this story. I really struggled writing chapter 3, needing to flesh out Jake as a different character than before.

I’d really love some opinions on his character and the story overall so far.

It’s taken be two weeks to be satisfied with this chapter but in contrast, a few days ago I typed up a 5000+ word short story in ONE DAY and I’m so excited to edit and share it with you all soon.

Is this just the nature of writing sometimes? Or does this indicate that my writer brain isn’t connecting enough with We Need Him and I need to move on from it?

Over the years since I started this story (a decade ago now remember!), I’ve used Jake, Jamie, and Brett many times as a way to distract myself. Writing their story in my head, seeing scenes and plot twists and character development. I can tell you where they will be in 5 years from the first chapter and what’s happening 6 months from it as well.

I know their story, they seem very real in my head, even with Jake needing to change around a bit. But does that mean I can – and should- translate them to the page?

What did you think of this chapter? I would love to hear your thoughts! Please remember chapters have not yet been professionally edited, so be kind about errors.
